An initiative of this year’s Virginia Masonic Grand Master has been to have all lodges engaging in community service projects.
A recent Catawba Lodge (Fincastle) project involved “collecting food” for the League for Animal Protection (LAP), Botetourt’s no-kill shelter. The members approved the concept, initially planning to buy and bring 30-pound bags of food to the facility. They later decided the better way was to donate money directly to the LAP where it could be directed to the most pressing needs.
Collections from the membership amounted to $500. Master of the Lodge Kerry Campbell (left) and Secretary Dave McCormack made the presentation to LAP volunteer Grace Tesoro as a chorus of barking dogs expressed their appreciation!
