A presentation about Botetourt County during the Civil War will take place at the Historic Wilson Warehouse in Buchanan on Thursday, April 24, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Ed McCoy, local historian and former editor of The Fincastle Herald, will share how the Civil War affected Botetourt County 160 years ago.
The presentation has been arranged by the Buchanan Library. Light refreshments will be provided.
It is only fitting that McCoy’s presentation take place at the Wilson Warehouse, one of Botetourt’s few surviving 19th century commercial structures. The warehouse was built in 1839 and served as a warehouse, shipping, receiving, wholesale and retail operation for the John S. Wilson Company from 1839 through the Civil War.
