Buchanan’s Third Friday Block Party is this Friday, July 20 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Main Street.

Melissa and the Growlers will perform as part of Buchanan’s Summer Concert Series sponsored by Bank of Botetourt

Melissa and the Growlers sport some of the most talented and versatile working musicians in Virginia, according to the announcement about the band by the Town of Buchanan. Covering experience in almost every musical genre, the eight members of Melissa and the Growlers are seasoned professionals who more than know how to play — they know how to perform.

The public is invited to bring family, friends and a lawn chair.

Antique autos on display continue to be a big part of Buchanan’s Block Party and Cruise In. Antique auto enthusiasts start rolling into town about 4:30 p.m. to set up and display their vehicles. Additional activities include extended hours by downtown merchants and restaurants, kids’ activities including an Art Wall and games, the live music, a beer garden, and civic groups set up as part of the Community Market.

For information about the Third Friday Block Party & Cruise In or to register for a Community Market booth with home-grown produce and plants or handmade crafts, contact the Buchanan Downtown Revitalization Program at 254-1212 Ext. 4.

The next Third Friday Block Parties are August 17 and September 21.
