The Glenvar boys and Giles girls won team championships in the Conference 38 track meet at Floyd County High School Monday.
James River had seven first place finishes, four by the boys and three by the girls. In the boys meet, Cameron Dennis won both the shot and discus and Will Miller took both the 1600- and 3200-meter races.
For the girls, Katelyn Wiley won the triple jump and 300 hurdles. Katelyn also ran on the winning 4×400 meter relay team with sister Kerri Wiley, Erin Walker and Abigail Link.
“We just didn’t have enough horses,” said JR coach Greg Dyer.
The regional meet is scheduled for next Wednesday, May 24, at Radford University.
