Attic Productions invites the public to the D. Geraldine Lawson Performing Arts Center, 7490 Roanoke Road, Fincastle, to the youth ensemble production of “Tales from the Brothers Grimm,” written by Doug Goheen.
Due to the recent weather events, the new show dates are February 5-8 and 12-15 with Thursday and Friday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday shows at 2:30 p.m. Anyone who has purchased tickets for the original weekend may exchange their seats for another showing by contacting the box office.
Join the Attic players as they bring five stories to life with action, dance, song and puppetry. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm narrate five of their famous tales:
- The Bremen Town Musicians: Four aging animals leave their respective farms and decide to become musicians in Bremen Town.
- The Elves and the Shoemaker: A struggling shoemaker and his wife are magically helped at night by elves who craft beautiful shoes.
- The Fisherman and His Wife: A fisherman catches a talking flounder who claims to be an enchanted princess.
- The Golden Goose: Simpleton goes out to chop firewood for his family and offers his lunch to a passing stranger. In return, the woman gives him a golden goose.
- Hans in Luck: After seven years of hard work, Hans is paid a large lump of gold. In a single day, he manages to make several bad trades until he is eventually left with nothing.
Adult tickets are $15, students 18 and under and groups of 10 or more are $10 when paid in cash or by check at the box office. Tickets may be purchased on the Attic Productions website by visiting www.atticproductions.info. For questions or assistance with purchasing tickets, call the box office at 540-473-1001. Volunteers are staffing the box office for this show on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. Leave a message at other times and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
Attic will be accepting pet food donations to benefit local animal shelters, and those attending the play may be lucky enough to meet a canine ambassador from the RVSPCA at one of the performances.
This production is presented by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Ill.
