Botetourt Rotarian Don Nichols II was awarded the District 7570 100% Award for 2020-2021 by Rotary Area Governor R. James Cook during the club’s April 21 meeting.

Botetourt Rotary President Dr. Angie Anderson nominated Nichols for this award. “Since the Botetourt Rotary Club’s creation, Don has consistently and successfully stepped into every role that is needed. He serves on almost every committee and is a significant asset to each committee in very unique ways. For example, for the club’s service projects, he creates the marketing materials or other documents necessary to help service projects appear professional and organized,” Anderson said.

“Don helps keep the club connected with the Rotary Foundation and District 7570 by setting club challenges or developing articles for the (Rotary) District News. Don is always the first to volunteer and help with service projects without complaint.  He is the club’s “Go To” man whenever there is a need,” Anderson concluded.

Nichols is the Botetourt Rotary Club’s past president, having served as president from 2018-2019. He also serves as the Foundation Advocate for Area 6 of Rotary District 7570.

Selection criteria for the 110% Award include considerations such as whether the nominee personifies Rotary’s primary goal of service above self, knows and understands Rotary’s importance to the community, knows and understands Rotary’s administrative and organizational structure, financially supports the Rotary Foundation, has been a Rotarian for at least two years and has held leadership positions.

“Don meets each of the selection criteria considerations,” noted Lethia Hammond, president-elect. “Don is a pleasure to work with and makes everyone feel valued and welcome,” she said.

The Botetourt Rotary Club meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at noon at Bellacino’s in Daleville. A WebEx link is available for those desiring to attend virtually.  Community members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
