As the first Tuesday in November approaches, here is an updated list of the qualified candidates in the 2023 Botetourt County elections.

Botetourt County School Board

  • Matthew J. East, School Board – Blue Ridge District (incumbent)
  • Dana C. McCaleb, School Board – Fincastle District (incumbent)
  • Timothy “Tim” Davidick – Valley District (incumbent)

State Senate District 3 

  • Chris Head (R)
  • Jade Harris (D)

House of Delegates – District 37 

  • Terry L. Austin (R)
  • Stephanie Clark (D)

Botetourt County Sheriff  

  • Matthew T. Ward

Botetourt County Commissioner of Revenue 

  • Chris T. Booth

Botetourt County Treasurer 

  • Donna C. Boothe

Botetourt County Commonwealth’s Attorney  

  • John R. H. Alexander, II

Botetourt County Clerk of Circuit Court 

  • Tommy Moore

Botetourt County Board of Supervisors – Fincastle District 

  • Brandon W. Nicely (R)
  • Donald Obenshain (I)

Botetourt County Board of Supervisors – Blue Ridge District 

  • Walter G. Michael

Botetourt County Board of Supervisors – Valley District 

  • Donald M. “Mac” Scothorn

Soil and Water Conservation Director Mountain Castles District (2 seats open)

  • Preston Wickline III

Member Town Council – Buchanan (2 seats open) 

  • Marlon Rickman

Member Town Council – Troutville (3 seats open) 

  • Laura C. Bumgarner

The deadline to submit certificates for candidacy was June 20 to be on the ballot. The second seat for Buchanan Town Council, the two other seats for Troutville Town Council, and the second seat for Soil & Water Conservation Director (S&WCD) will be write-ins.

Botetourt County is comprised of five magisterial districts each containing two precincts. Voters are registered by their residence address and must vote in their assigned precinct on Election Day.

Here are the current polling places for Botetourt County residents:

Amsterdam Magisterial District

  • Daleville Precinct (101) – Polling Location: Lord Botetourt High School, 1435 Roanoke Road, Daleville
  • Greenfield Precinct (102) – Polling Location: Greenfield Elementary School, 288 Etzler Road, Troutville

Blue Ridge Magisterial District

  • Blue Ridge Precinct (201) – Polling Location: Colonial Baptist Church, 221 Hillcrest Street, Blue Ridge
  • Rainbow Forest Precinct (202) – Polling Location: Colonial Elementary School, 142 Murray Drive, Troutville

Buchanan Magisterial District

  • Buchanan Precinct (301) (includes Town of Buchanan) – Polling Location: Buchanan Elementary School, 255 Schoolhouse Road, Buchanan
  • Mill Creek Precinct (302) – Polling Location: Mill Creek Baptist Church, 11475 Lee Highway, Fincastle

Fincastle Magisterial District

  • Eagle Rock Precinct (403) – Polling Location: Eagle Rock Elementary School, 145 Eagles Nest Drive, Eagle Rock
  • Fincastle Precinct (406) (includes Town of Fincastle) – Polling Location: Fincastle Baptist Church, 7330 Roanoke Road, Fincastle

Valley Magisterial District

  • Troutville Precinct (501) (includes Town of Troutville) – Polling Location: Troutville Elementary School, 12 Barron Road, Troutville
  • Cloverdale Precinct (502) – Polling Location: Read Mountain Middle School, 182 Orchard Hill Drive, Cloverdale
