LESTER, Betty B.
Betty Britt Lester, 79, of Eagle Rock, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
Betty was born in Eagle Rock on May 22, 1939 and lived there all of her life. She was daughter of the late Lawrence “Buck” and Cottie Britt.
Betty retired from the Botetourt County Public School System as a bus driver after 25 years. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and loved working in her flowers, playing bingo, and attending her high school class dinners.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her nephew, Tommy Britt.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Cleatis E. Lester; children: Teresa (James) Morris of Vinton and Ronnie (Teresa) Lester of Eagle Rock; grandchildren: Sasha Scott, Kelsey (Michael) Hylton, Amber and Chase Lester; great-grandchildren: Ryleigh, Braelyn, and Kinley Scott, Baylee and Turner Hylton; siblings: Donald (Sara) Britt, Bonnie Britt, Gary (Sharon) Britt, Patti Coffey, and brother-in-law Calvin (Cynthia) Lester; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty’s family offers a special thanks to the staff at Gentle Shepherd Hospice: Donna and Mary Luz.
A celebration of Betty’s life was held, Sunday, September 2 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Preacher Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Burial was in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Eagle Rock. The family received friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the funeral Sunday.

NORRIS, Hazel D.
Hazel Marie Deaver Norris, 86, of Buchanan, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
She was born and raised in Whiteford, Md. Hazel was a member and choir director at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church and a member of the Botetourt County Chorus. She was a school bus driver for Harford County, Md., for many years and was a shop owner of various small businesses as well. Hazel was a devoted and loving wife, incredible mother, Memaw and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her loving son, Michael C. Norris; parents, Paul and Mary Deaver; sister, Ruth E. Cullun; brother, William Deaver; and niece, Betty Hutson.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, Henry F. Norris; son, H. Alan Norris; daughters, Linda L. Queen and M. Paula Burgess; grandchildren, Jason M. Burgess, Kevin M. Burgess, Christopher N. Queen, Riann E. Queen, and Rhett A. Norris; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.
