Open Studios – Botetourt, Art in the Country, returns for the annual open studio and workshop tour on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Photography, jewelry, painting, wood carving, print-making, and woodturning will all be featured.

Various studios, workshops and residences around Botetourt County will feature 14 artists in six locations. Open Studios – Botetourt art tour will extend from Daleville/ Troutville into Fincastle.  The stops in between vary from several artists to a single artist. This year four new artists are participating along with the return of many favorite artists. Botetourt artists include Ed Bordett, Vera Dickerson, Dan Jones, Brett LaGue, Cheryl Miller Lackey, Judith F Lochbrunner, Willie Simmons, Jim Stadtlander and Mark Woodie. Guest artists are Karin Carlson (returning) and new artists Marsha Heatwole, Leah Coffman, David Eakin and Purnell Pettyjohn.

The community can learn more about the artists, the art and the tour locations at https://openstudiosbotetourt.com. The website features a map with addresses and contact information. Each of the stops on the tour will also have a brochure to facilitate travel to the other locations.

This year as a special addition, several artists have embellished maple plates that will be offered for sale. These plates came from a tree which was cut down as part of the preparation to rebuild the Botetoutty Courthouse in Fincastle. Willie Simmons used the wood to turn these plates and each one is unique in its form.

The art tour can also be found on Facebook (Open Studios – Botetourt) and Instagram (@openstudiosbotetourt).

For questions or additional information email: openstudiosbotetourtinfo@gmail.com.

The artists thank the sponsors: Botetourt County, Bank of Botetourt, Virginia Mountain Mortgage, Ikenberry Orchard, Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge, Town of Fincastle and Bible Accounting.
