Monday was the scheduled opener for Virginia High School League sports but the weather didn’t cooperate. All Lord Botetourt and James River events scheduled for Monday were rained out.
As of Monday afternoon some of the events were rescheduled, and the local athletic directors were working on rescheduling some others. Today’s schedule, at press time, included LB baseball at home against Hidden Valley and softball at Hidden Valley. The James River baseball team has a game at Riverheads today, Wednesday.
On Thursday, LB will play Salem in tennis with the boys at Hollins University and the girls in Salem. The girls’ soccer team is also in Salem while the Cavaliers will host the Spartans in a boys’ game on the Daleville pitch.
James River has baseball and softball at Patrick Henry Thursday, as well as girls’ soccer at Appomattox. On Friday the Lord Botetourt baseball team is scheduled to go to Magna Vista and the softball team is home against Christiansburg.
Beginning this Saturday teams from both schools will be off for spring break until Monday, March 30.
