Phyllis June Newcomb Alexander, 78, of Eagle Rock, passed away Saturday evening, May 28, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Pearl Hill Newcomb; brother, Wilbur Lee Newcomb, and cousin, Joyce Lawson. Phyllis loved to work crossword puzzles and a lover of not only cats, but all animals and insects. She was a life-long member of Mt. Carmel Church of Eagle Rock.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert Clayton Alexander; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Karen Alexander of Eagle Rock, Darin and Adriane Alexander of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Meghan and Melissa Alexander-Patton and Benjamen and Barbara Alexander; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Roger and Etta Alexander, Doris and Carroll Johnson, ImaJean and Shields Compton, and Teresa Alexander.

The family would like to thank Carrington Memory Cottages and Kindred Hospice for taking such good care of our wife and mother.

Phyllis’ funeral service will be held at Mt Carmel Church on Wednesday, June 1, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Richard Ronk officiating. Interment will follow in Eagle Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, May 31, from 6-8 p.m. at the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.
