Botetourt County Public Schools announced in a press release last Thursday the appointment of Jordan Pinkard as the new assistant superintendent.
Pinkard brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to educational excellence to his new leadership role. A valued member of the Botetourt County Public Schools team for 11 years, he has consistently demonstrated a strong dedication to student success, innovative instructional leadership, and meaningful collaboration with staff, families, and the broader community.
The former principal of Central Academy Middle School (CAMS) began his career in education as a secondary mathematics teacher, serving at William Fleming High School in Roanoke City Public Schools for two years, followed by six years at James River High School in Buchanan. Over the course of his career, he has held several leadership roles, including assistant principal at James River High School before becoming principal at CAMS.
He earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics from Virginia Tech, followed by a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership, also from Virginia Tech. His strong academic background and commitment to professional learning have equipped him to support school divisions in achieving continuous growth and improvement.
“Mr. Pinkard is a dedicated and forward-thinking leader whose deep understanding of teaching and learning makes him exceptionally well-suited for this role,” said Dr. Janet Womack, the new superintendent of Botetourt County Public Schools. “His ability to build strong relationships, support innovation, and foster collaboration will benefit our students, staff, and community for years to come.”
As assistant superintendent, Pinkard will oversee instructional leadership, curriculum and instruction, professional learning, school improvement planning, and strategic support for school administrators and other departments within the school division. He will work closely with educators and families to ensure that all students are equipped with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and reach their full potential.
