Read Mountain student wins BCPS spelling bee

Botetourt County Public Schools held the division spelling bee on Tuesday, Feb. 8. The division winner was Lily Schroeder, a student at Read Mountain Middle School. The winning word was “contessa.” Runner-up was Carter Cecil, a student at Troutville Elementary School.

School champions (participants in the division bee) were Kendra Zepp, Breckinridge, Grace Matre, Buchanan, Silas Whitson, CAMS, Elijah Laffoon, Cloverdale, Aiden Gillespie, Colonial, Charlotte Mantey, Eagle Rock, Siomara Clark, Greenfield, Lily Schroeder, RMMS, and Carter Cecil, Troutville.

School alternates were Jacob Simmons, Breckinridge, Cheyenne Byrd, Buchanan, Landon Flores, CAMS, Paityn Conley, Cloverdale, Ella Amos, Colonial, Abigail Angle, Eagle Rock, Jordan Mathews, Greenfield, Minh Ngo, RMMS, and Molly Lusk, Troutville.
