The Region 2C cross country meet was getting ready to take the gun at Green Hill Park in Roanoke County Tuesday as the paper went to press. James River runners were scheduled to run in the meet.
The Three Rivers District meet was held October 29 at the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville and the Floyd County boys and Radford girls won team championships. The James River boys were third and the girls did not have a full team.
Quinlan Beegle of Floyd County won the boys’ race with a time of 17:38 over 5,000 meters. There were 41 boys who completed the race.
River was led by Braden Jones, who finished seventh in 18:42. Aiden Bartulis was eighth overall in 18:51, and also scoring were Mark Voight in 10th place, Tristan Capo-Lopez in 13th, and Barrett Pace in 28th.
Cora Mosby of Radford was the girls’ individual champ, as the Bobcats had the first four finishers. Mosby had a time of 21:14.
River’s top runner was Jacey Walker, who finished 24th. Holly Weddle was 27th, Whitleigh Ronk was 28th, and Janiya Falls was 29th.
