The Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville will be the site of Region 3D cross country meet today, including runners from Lord Botetourt.

The Cavaliers were the host team for the Blue Ridge District meet last week at the Greenfield Recreation Complex in Daleville. Franklin County swept the team titles while the Botetourt boys were third and the girls were second.

Eric Duncan of Lord Botetourt won the boys race with a time of 16:38, finishing a minute and twenty seconds ahead of second place. Eric was named Runner of the Year and was awarded All-District honors.

Also scoring for LB were John Moughrabi in 12th, Archer Lee in 15th, Garrett Sutton (17th), and Joel Butler (18th).

“Our boys packed well together and were all working hard for their spot,” said coach Elizabeth Edmonds.

Caitlyn Roach of Franklin County won the girls’ race in 21:10. The LB girls were led by Madeleine Gantzhorn, who came in fifth place in 23:41, and Addison Purser in seventh. Both girls were named All-District runners while Ember Wiley (18th), Elizabeth Meadows (22nd), and Madeleine Moore (23rd) rounded out LB’s top five scoring runners.
