The Region 2C cross country meet was scheduled for Greenfield Recreation Park in Daleville this week. Greenfield also hosted the Three Rivers District meet last week.

The region meet was scheduled for Tuesday, but results were too late for publication. The top three teams and top five runners not on those teams will advance to the Class 2 state meet at Green Hill Park in Roanoke County on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Last week at Greenfield the Glenvar boys and Radford girls won team titles, while James River’s boys and girls both finished third. In the boys’ meet Glenvar finished with 28 points to 49 for second place Patrick County and 84 for the Knights, who edged fourth place Floyd County by three points. Radford was fifth and Martinsville was sixth.

Glenvar’s Aldin Smith was the individual winner, edging teammate Tyler Davis by 4/100ths of a second. Smith’s time was 17:48.34 and Davis was 17:48.38.

River’s Braden Jones finished fourth overall in 18:08 to earn All-Three Rivers District honors. Mark Voight was 11th, missing all-district by one spot. Also scoring for River were Charles Stull, Barrett Pace and Nolan Linthicum who finished within three seconds of each other in 22nd, 23rd and 24th.

Radford had 35 points to win the girls’ title followed by Floyd at 58 and River at 83. Close behind were Glenvar with 84 and Patrick County with 86 points.

Radford had the first two individuals, including district champion Cora Mosby who ran a time of 20:40. River had two all-district runners with Maddie Davidson taking fourth in 22:27 and Maren Pauley running sixth in 23:01. Also scoring were Holly Weddle in 22nd, Jacey Walker in 24th and Alexandra Bona in 27th.
