The Botetourt Longbeards Chapter of the National Wildlife Federation (NWTF) is holding its first Women In The Outdoors event since the pandemic. It will be held Saturday, Aug. 19 at Blue Ridge Vineyard near Eagle Rock.
The women-only event provides the opportunity to be introduced to firearms in a safe, instructional environment with trained and certified instructors. Participants will be able to shoot .22 rifles, .22 pistols, shotguns, archery and modern .223 rifles during the course of the morning and early afternoon. New and previous participants are welcome.
Participation is limited to the first 50 women to register. The cost is $35, which includes membership in the NWTF, one of the premier conservation organizations in North America. Pre-registration is required. Lunch will be provided as part of the event. The Longbeards will try to accommodate friends and family members (including daughters 16 and older) in the same group. To do so, after registering, send an email with the names of those women to botetourtlongbeards@gmail.com.
All equipment and ammunition will be provided.
Check-in is from 8-830 a.m. A required safety briefing is at 8:45 a.m. and the shooting activities begin immediately after.
Blue Ridge Vineyard is located at 1027 Shiloh Drive, Eagle Rock, Va. 24085.
