Botetourt County residents are advised that dry conditions have created an increased risk for wildfire.

Public Safety Officials are urging residents to use extreme caution during outdoor celebrations over the holiday weekend.

Sources of wildfires commonly include fireworks, campfires and cigarettes. Wildfires pose a threat to homes and other property, and more importantly to the safety of both residents and responders who must risk their lives to extinguish the fires.

More detailed information on fireworks safety can be found on the Virginia Department of Forestry Website at: http://www.dof.virginia.gov/fire/fireworks.shtml
