River girls take second in region track meet

RIVER GIRLS TAKE SECOND IN REGION TRACK MEET

 

The James River girls were second and the boys were ninth the Region C combined Class 1 and 2 track meet last Friday. The Floyd County girls and Parry McCluer boys won team titles at the Roanoke College Kerr-Cregger Indoor track in Salem.

Top three finishes for River included Holly Hylton with a second in the 500 and a third in the 55 Hurdles, Morgan Marshall with a second in the triple jump and a third in the high jump and Vanessa Lima with third in both the 55 dash and triple jump, Also, the 4×200 relay team of Hylton, Marshall, Lima and Ella Wright was second.

For the boys, Isaac Worsley took a second in the triple jump.

The state meet will be held this Friday and Saturday at Roanoke College.
