Still stinging from a 7-1 loss at Radford last week, the James River soccer boys welcomed the Bobcats to Springwood on Monday for a rematch. Radford came out on top again, but this time they had a battle on their hands before getting out of town with a 2-1 win.
“We came to play tonight,” said River coach Jared Whiting after Monday’s game. “A completely different game than Thursday. We controlled the field a majority of the time and we created scoring opportunities, we just didn’t capitalize on them. Unfortunately, we made a couple of costly mistakes late that ended with a loss. It goes to show you that you can be the better team all night, yet still give up a win.”
The Knights were scheduled to host Giles on Tuesday in their final game of the regular season. The Region 2C playoffs are next week but rankings were yet to be decided by press time.
