James River will host the final track meet of the regular season today when the Knights welcome three opponents to Springwood, including county rival Lord Botetourt. Alleghany and Radford will also join the Knights and Cavs on the River oval.

This will be the last meet for James River until the Region 2C meet at Christiansburg on May 26, as the Three Rivers District does not have a home meet. Lord Botetourt will be participating in the Blue Ridge District meet at Franklin County on Saturday. That’s scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., and the Region 3D meet will be at Staunton River on May 26.

Last Wednesday LB participated in a meet at William Byrd High School along with Bassett, Glenvar, North Cross, Martinsville and the host Terriers. The Botetourt boys finished third and the girls were fifth.

Top three finishes for the boys included Evan Gates in the 3,200 with Tristan Marshall taking third, and Kendal Howard in the shot put with DJ Toliver taking second. Seth Huard and Toliver took second and third in the discus.

Elijah Rose took a second in the triple jump, Rye Jackson was second in the 400 and KJ Bratton was second in the 100.

For the girls, Maddie Malue took second in both hurdle races. Katie Cross was second in the 1,600 and Anna Hoover took third.
