James River will host Radford at 5:30 p.m. today in the Knights’ last regular season game. The Three Rivers District does not have a tournament, so the Knights will wait to see who they play in the Region 2C tournament after today’s game.
The Knights split two games last week, losing at Radford, 5-3, but bouncing back to win at home against Alleghany, 2-1. The Knights are now 12-7 overall and 7-2 in Three Rivers District games.
At Radford the Bobcats scored five runs in the first two innings off Zeal Hammons to take a lead River could not overcome. Heath Andrews and Hunter Mays had two hits each for the Knights.
Against Alleghany, Andrews pitched a gem to get the Knights back on the winning side. Heath struck out 10 Mountaineers in five innings while pitching a four-hitter. Jonas Wilkes pitched the last two innings and earned a save. Dalton Hall had two hits and John Austin drove in both runs for the Knights.
