Roanoke College is site of indoor track meet

Lord Botetourt and James River had athletes competing in the East Coast Elite “Around the World” Invitational track meet last Saturday. The meet was held at the Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse at Roanoke College.

Top six finishes for the Lord Botetourt girls included a fifth place by Ratie Jensen in the high jump and Abigail Perkey in the shot put. The girls’ 4×200 relay team took fourth with Janie Compton, Analise Buylos, Karleigh Brown and Morgan Wilmer.

For the boys, Triston Graves won the 55 hurdles in a school record time of  7.72 and he was also fourth in the 300 and fifth in the 55 dash. Eric Duncan and Ethan Thorne were fourth and sixth in the 1,000-meter run. LB’s 4×800 relay team was second with Duncan, Thorne, Preston Vaughn and Lucas Carswell.

James River’s Braden Jones was 14th in the 1,600.

This Saturday the Cavaliers are scheduled to run at Liberty University and the Knights are going to Heritage.
