Rosie Ann Wire Tankersley

Rosie Ann Wire Tankersley, 70, of Dayton, Tenn., passed away on June 23, 2021.

She was born in Warrick County, Ind., and worked as a car hop at Parkette in Boonville, Ind., where she met her future and awesome husband, Charles H. Tankersley Jr. They were married at Otter Creek Church in Booneville, Ind., on April 24, 1970.

Rosie was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles Herman Tankersley Jr.; mother, Ann (Mike) Carter; father, Henry (Loretta) Wire; brother, Henry “Butch” Wire; father-in-law, Charles Tankersley; mother-in-law, Frances Tankersley; niece, Libby Wire Birge; and brother-in-law, Robert Maurer.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Pamela) Tankersley of Fincastle; daughter, Michelle Tankersley of Dayton, Tenn.; grandson, Charlie (Kaysie) Tankersley of Dayton, Tenn.; granddaughter, Sierra Tankersley of Dayton, Tenn.,; sister, Frances Maurer of Boonville, Ind.; brother-in-law, David (Anna Kaye) Tankersley of Hixson, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Brenda Meyers of Dayton, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Sandra (Bill) Hackney of Nashville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and her grand fur babies, Atlas, Leo, Autumn, and Nina.

Serving as pallbearers were Michael Tankersley, Charles David Tankersley, Zack Tankersley, CJ Cox, Mark Morgan Jr., and Tim Maurer. Special thanks to Amanda Salinas for everything you have done, and to ALL the nurses at Memorial Hospital Oncology and Hospice of Chattanooga and Connie Anderson for all your help.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chattanooga Hospice, American Cancer Society, and New Union Baptist Church.

The service was held Sunday, June 27, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home, Dayton, Tenn., with Pastor Jeremy Deal and Dr. Danny Ruhling officiating. The family received visitors on Saturday, June 26, from 5-8 p.m.
