Sara Jane McDonald and Sweet Fire

The Town of Buchanan is working with local businesses, members of the Special Events Committee and Bank of Botetourt to add more excitement to this year’s Third Fridays Block Parties, and with that comes the arrival of live music to this summer’s schedule.

Sara Jane McDonald and Sweet Fire will be performing this Friday, May 19 during the 5:30-8:30 p.m. Block Party on Main Street in Buchanan’s downtown.

Sara Jane McDonald and Sweet Fire have been described has having “youthful energy and raw talent backed by decades of musical experience and ability; (they serve) up a crowd-pleasing mix today’s top country hits along with homegrown originals and a few ’80s throwbacks to keep the audience moving. This band is like nothing you’ve seen before. But once you have, you’ll want to see them again and again.”

Buchanan invites the whole family to “appreciate the simple things in life” while you gather with family and friends for this Friday evening’s Block Party. Visitors can enjoy strolling along Main Street where you will find antique autos lining Main Street, a unique blend of Mom and Pop shops, and locally owned family restaurants.

Also in the Community Market, there will be vendors selling food, T-shirts and kettle corn, along with a Beer Garden featuring local brews.

The town thanks Bank of Botetourt for its support of live music throughout the year at activities such as Third Fridays, Pork by the James, Reggae by the River and Mountain Magic In Fall.
