Botetourt County Libraries and the Kiwanis Club of Botetourt present a “Scary Storytelling Festival” this Saturday at Troutville Town Park beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Visitors will enjoy crafts and games for all ages. The first 30 families will receive a copy of the book, ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson courtesy of the Kiwanis Club of Botetourt.

The festival will also feature a costume contest awarding the best homemade costume, the best costume based on a character from a book, and the best family costume.

The stories begin at 6:00 p.m. for the younger visitors. At 6:45 p.m., the festival offers “spookier” stories for the older kids and adults.

The festival’s featured storyteller is Kim Weitkamp, an award-winning storyteller, author, singer-songwriter and humorist.

Gather friends and family, a blanket or a chair, something warm to drink, and settle in for some spine-tingling tales.

To learn more about the festival and the guest speaker, please visit the Botetourt County Libraries’ calendar of events at www.botetourtva.gov/161/Libraries.
