Sally Bailey, an instructional assistant at Troutville Elementary School, and Joseph Curulla, a teacher at Central Academy Middle School (CAMS), were recognized by the Botetourt County School Board as the Botetourt County Public Schools (BCPS) Employees of the Month for January during last week’s regular meeting at the BCPS Administrative Offices in Fincastle.

Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Russ recognized the School Board for the month of February, which marks the annual observation of School Board Appreciation Month. The theme this year is “Rising to the Challenge” which reflects the Virginia School Board Association (VSBA) with local school board members who serve their local divisions and advocate for public education with local, state, and federal leaders on behalf of all students. Russ and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Janet Womack presented each board member in attendance with a certificate of recognition.

“I know I speak for BCPS when I say we are extremely fortunate in this division to have the School Board that we have,” Russ said. “I truly believe our board members are on this board for one reason, and that’s for what’s best for our children. They don’t come with personal agendas… We are fortunate that they’re here… I can tell you that there are a lot of employees in this division that will agree with me.”

Additionally, in appreciation for their hard work and dedication for public education, the VSBA and School Board recognized Clerk Susan Albert and Deputy Clerk Kathy Quinn.
