Kenneth Wayne ‘Bud’ Smith, 93, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on June 3, 2024.

He is survived by his beloved sister, Betty Ann Hall of Buena Vista, Virginia, his two children, Danny Smith and Lou Ann Smith, five cherished grandchildren, and two adored great-grandchildren, all residing in the Charlotte area.

Ken was born in Natural Bridge, Virginia and grew up on a farm in the area –  a place he always spoke of with great affection and nostalgia. His early years on the farm instilled in him a deep appreciation for hard work and the simple joys of life.

Ken served his country with honor, completing a tour of duty in the Navy aboard an aircraft carrier. His service was a source of pride and contributed to the discipline and determination he demonstrated throughout his life.

In 1969, Ken founded his own business, “Ken Smith, Inc.,” which he nurtured and grew with relentless dedication. His company, a testament to his vision and leadership, continues to thrive to this day. Ken was not just a businessman; he was an innovator and a technology enthusiast who embraced change and progress.

Known for his unwavering work ethic, Ken lived by the motto ‘business before pleasure.’ Even at the remarkable age of 93, he maintained his routine of coming into the office every day, driven by his passion and commitment. His final wish was for his business to continue to grow and prosper, serving as a lasting legacy to his life’s work.

Ken’s life was marked by his determination, innovation, and an unyielding spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on through the ongoing success of his business and the fond memories held by those who loved him.

A private family service will be held to honor Ken’s life and his remarkable contributions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to:
