Shaun Sparks has been named principal of Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC). His appointment was approved last Thursday by the School Board and will be effective July 1.

Sparks, currently Career and Technical Education Director of Greene County Public Schools, will replace Mike Ketron who becomes the Botetourt school division’s Coordinator for Career and Technical Education (CTE).

Ketron will assume the CTE position July 1 when current coordinator Lisa Barnett retires.

Sparks will be new to the Botetourt school division. He was named Greene County’s CTE Director in 2016. Prior to that he was an assistant principal at William Monroe High School in Stanardsville. Before going to Greene County, he was the Director of School Counseling at Wilson Memorial High School in Augusta County.

Ketron was appointed principal at BTEC in July 2016 after serving as assistant principal at James River High School for six years and before that as assistant principal for three years at Lord Botetourt High School.
