St.Clair, Joyce Spickard

Joyce Genelle Spickard Chewning St.Clair, of Daleville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Joyce was born on May 5, 1928, and had over 97 wonderful years of life with her family, whom she adored. Joyce and her husband, Tom, loved being active in the community with their great friends and neighbors.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Wilson St.Clair and Abner Chewning. Also preceding her were her parents, Elmer Conrad Spickard, Sr. and Esther “Ettie” Thompson Spickard; her siblings, Elmer Conrad Spickard, Jr. and wives, Mary and Marie; Doris Chewning and husband, Trubie; Adele Ayers and husband, Al; Iris Graham and husband, Bill; Nancy Clarke, Emmanuel Spickard and Dale Spickard; sister-in-law, Eunice Cook Spickard; step-grandson, Cole St.Clair.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, William “Haynes” Spickard and Peggy Spickard; her in-laws, Ellsworth Clarke, Sarah Spickard and Sue Spickard. Joyce is also survived by her stepchildren, Steve St.Clair and wife, Terrie, Vicky Munna and Eric St.Clair; as well as her step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce leaves many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and will miss her.

The family wants to thank Joyce’s wonderful caregivers, Tanisha “Summer,” Alisha and Sheri; they became part of the family. The family also thanks Good Samaritan Hospice for their tender care and great support. Special thanks to Nadia, Lisa and Kathy for their visits, support and love. Joyce’s brother, Haynes, wants to acknowledge his children Rosalyn and Carl Shimp and Naomi and Michael Rock as well as nephews Sonny Spickard, Rodney Spickard, niece Donna Simmons and sister-in-law Sarah Spickard for their many hours dedicated to Joyce in taking care of her needs and upkeep of her home.

Visitation will be at the Oakey’s East Chapel on Saturday, March 7 from 4-7 p.m. A Celebration of her life will be at Oakey’s East Chapel on Sunday, March 8 at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at Glade Creek Cemetery in Blue Ridge. Arrangements are by Oakey’s East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
