Sue Virginia Wright Craft, 88, of Troutville, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 following a period of declining health.

Sue was born in Eagle Rock and lived in Botetourt County all of her life.  She was the daughter of the late William J. and Lomie Boothe Wright.

Sue was one of the first women school bus drivers for Botetourt County schools, driving for 17 years.  She was a waitress at Rose’s Department Store and at the Greenwood Restaurant.  Sue was a member of Troutville Baptist Church, enjoyed bus tours…especially her trips to Atlantic City, and loved to cook. She was a great wife and mother. Sue loved her children and always enjoyed having everyone at her home, preparing big meals so no one would go away hungry.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Craft; brothers, Leo and Don Wright; her sister, Ida Lemon; sisters-in-law, Anna Wright and Loretta Wright; daughter-in-law, Sandy Craft; son-in-law, Wayne Webb; great-grandson, Daniel Webb; brother-in-law, Dwight Craft; and her in-laws, Howard and Lucille Craft.

She is survived by her sons, Randall Craft and Ronnie (Connie) Craft; daughters, Deborah (Bucky) Wagoner, and Pam Webb; grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer), Timmy, Jamey (Jennifer), Greg (Kacie), Jeremy, and Sarah; many great-grandchildren; brother, David Wright; sisters-in-law, Martha Wright and Gloria Painter; brother-in-law, Glen Lemon; many nieces and nephews; special niece, Glenda Lemon; and special friends: Willard Driver and Kathy Walters.

A celebration of Sue’s life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8 at Troutville Baptist Church, with Pastor Reggie Warren and Pastor Carol Johnston officiating. Burial was in Daleville Cemetery. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Troutville Baptist Church Building Fund, 5520 Lee Highway, Troutville, 24175; or to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke,  24018. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.rader-funeralhome.com.
