It will be a busy week for the LB tennis teams as they get ready for post-season play.

On Tuesday both the boys and girls were scheduled to play William Byrd, with the boys in Vinton and the girls at Hollins University. The boys were hoping to get in two matches after being rained out of a match with Byrd last week.

On Thursday the boys will host William Fleming at Hollins while the girls play the Colonels in Roanoke. Then, on Friday, both teams make up matches with Staunton River, with the boys at home and the girls in Moneta.

The boys dropped a 7-2 decision to Northside on Monday and that dropped them to 2-2 in the Blue Ridge. The Cavaliers lost to Franklin County last week, 6-3, as Tucker Grimshaw and Coby Kingery won singles while Grimshaw and Archer Jones won at doubles. LB also lost to Christiansburg, 5-3, with Jones winning in singles and Kingery and Jacob Perrine winning in doubles.

The girls got in three matches last week, beginning with a 7-2 win over Glenvar. Rachel Williams, Leah Germain, Allison Coombe and Jessica Lancenese all won in singles.

On Thursday LB lost a close one to Byrd, 5-4. Williams, Coombe and Lancenese won in singles as the two teams split. Germain and Jordan Coffey won in doubles but Byrd took the other two for the win.

On Friday LB beat Northside, 5-1. Singles winners were Williams, Germain, Coffey, Coombe and Lancenese.

The girls come into the week at 7-4 overall and 4-2 in the district, trailing only Northside in the BRD standings.
