The Lord Botetourt tennis teams swept William Fleming opponents on Monday, both by scores of 8-1. The boys won on the Hollins University courts and the girls won at Fleming.
“We had a beautiful day for our match at William Fleming,” said LB girls’ coach Carol Altier. “Some wind, but the sun was out and the girls were happy to be on the courts. They played well and hit some excellent shots.”
LB swept the singles with wins by Rachel Williams, Kaile Judge, Leah Germain, Abby Eggleston, Kayleigh Shafer and Jordan Coffey. In doubles Judge and Eggleston won at number two and Germain and Coffey took third doubles.
“Our number two doubles team is a powerhouse,” said Altier. “It’s so much fun watching this team play.”
On Thursday of last week the girls played host to Staunton River and won 9-0 despite some rain near the end of the match. Shafer was down 0-5 in her singles match and came back to win 8-6.
The girls are now 7-6 overall and the boys are 10-2. On Friday the boys will host Northside at Hollins and the girls will play the Vikings at Walrond Park.
