Ralph “Pop,” “Paw,” Terry of Buchanan was born on March 15, 1947.  Sadly, on March 6, 2023, he left his loved ones on Earth to join his loved ones awaiting him in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Terry.

He leaves to mourn and rejoice in memories of knowing and loving him, his children, Ralph Leon Terry, Jr. (Kim), Cindy Hayth (Lynn), and Lisa Anderson; grandchildren, Xavier McCrowey, Dominick Anderson, Alisha McCrowey, Alexis Olagide, Keon Terry, Kimora Terry, Amber Lee, Ashley Lee, and Allena Lee; seven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Helen Watts; and brother-in-law, Leonard Watts; along with a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

He joined the church at an early age and upon returning to the Buchanan area he joined Indian Rock Baptist Church where he became a Deacon and took on the role of Trustee, and the cemetery committee.  When Indian Rock Baptist no longer held services, he began to attend First Baptist Church in Buchanan where he remained a member until his passing.

During his life span, he worked many jobs with his favorites being well drilling in which his last position was with Richard Simmons Well Drilling, He then went to work for SanMarCo where he worked until he retired in November of 2022.  He also had a passion for lawn care, so he started his own business.

The family received friends on Saturday, March 18, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. A Celebration of Ralph’s life followed at 3 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com or 540-254-3000.
