The Glebe officials were scheduled to break ground this afternoon (Wednesday) for a new $5 million memory support neighborhood, according to an announcement by Peter Robinson, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for LifeSpire of Virginia, which owns The Glebe.
According to the announcement, the continuing care retirement community on Glebe Road in Daleville is adding the 15,415-square-foot facility that will consist of four neighborhoods of five private resident rooms surrounding open and bright living/common areas consistent with a residential design approach. It will have 20 private rooms.
The new memory support neighborhood, officially named The Chaplick Neighborhood for Memory Support (The Chaplick Center), is being named after the Estate of June Chaplick whose generous gift, along with other Glebe resident gifts, made the project possible, Robinson announced.
The Chaplick Center will be designed to care for the unique needs of seniors with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The Chaplick Center will offer person-centered care and programming modeled after industry leading concepts for people with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
According to the announcement, the design incorporates a neighborhood-based approach. The Chaplick Center will have a full “cook to order” kitchen, family-style dining, common living and activity areas, expansive exterior courtyard with patio and screened porches, salon and spa.
Local architects SFCS designed the Chaplick Center and construction will be done by G&H Construction. Construction is projected to be complete by the summer of 2019.
