Botetourt Sheriff’s Office to host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday

The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This event offers residents a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused, expired, or unwanted prescription medications. Each year, communities across the country collect hundreds of thousands of pounds of medications, helping reduce the risk of drug misuse, accidental poisoning, and environmental harm.

Community members can drop off medications at two convenient locations: Penelope’s in Daleville and Solomon’s Mission in Buchanan. The service is free and completely anonymous.

For those unable to attend, a secure prescription drop box is available year-round in the lobby of the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

By taking part in Take Back Day, residents play an important role in keeping their homes and communities safe.
