Botetourt County Sheriff Matt Ward announces the first Senior Social of 2026, part of the Senior Focus Outreach Program, taking place Friday, February 20, at Fincastle Baptist Church. The event is designed to bring seniors and law enforcement together while highlighting the many services and resources available to the Botetourt County senior community.

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Fincastle Baptist Church, 7330 Roanoke Road, Fincastle, and a free lunch will be provided. Sheriff Ward will offer information on preventative measures to help seniors avoid becoming victims of crime.

Following Sheriff Ward, Tyler Kelly of CORA Physical Therapy in Daleville will speak. A Fincastle native and James River High School graduate, Tyler holds degrees in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training from Bridgewater College and a Physical Therapist Assistant credential from Allegany College of Maryland. He has managed the Daleville clinic for more than seven years and developed a fall-prevention program for churches and senior groups, focusing on reducing fall risks and teaching seniors how to safely get up after a fall.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet public and private service providers offering resources such as daily well-being checks, general health information, and financial wellness guidance. Government agencies will be on hand to answer questions and assist seniors in planning for future needs. All services are provided free of charge to the Botetourt senior community.

“Protecting our seniors starts with communication and education,” said Sheriff Ward. “This event gives us the opportunity to connect face-to-face, share prevention strategies, and ensure seniors have the tools they need to stay safe.”

Sheriff Ward invites the Botetourt senior community to join him for the first Senior Social of the year Friday, February 20, at 11:30 a.m. at Fincastle Baptist Church. For more information, contact Andrea Mundy, Community Outreach Coordinator, at 540-928-2233.
