The Virginia High School League announced the Class 3 All-State team for competitive cheering last week and Lord Botetourt was well represented. LB seniors Chloe Taylor and Raegan Bolling were named to the first team and junior Sadie Stowe was chosen for the second team.
Cave Spring junior Alijah Reeves is the Class 3 Player of the Year, and Cave Spring head coach Jen Koll is the Class 3 Coach of the Year. The competition cheer player and coach of the year come from the state championship team in each classification.
Koll and Reeves guided Cave Spring to its third straight and seventh state cheer championship for the program. In this year’s finals at VCU, judges awarded Cave Spring 280 points and Lord Botetourt followed with 274 points to take second.
The top 10 athletes from each first team All-Region squad qualify for All-State consideration. Of these 10, the top five, determined by ranking, make the All-State first team, while the next five are placed on the second team. The highest-rated cheerleader among the state championship team is named Player of the Year (POY), and the coach of that team is named Coach of the Year (COY).
