Proceeds from the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce’s annual Tinsel Trail are giving back to the community through a $500 charitable donation to the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office.
Teresa Fridley of First Bank and Chamber Board Member Maiya Ashby of Craig-Botetourt Electric Cooperative recently presented the donation to Sheriff Matthew Ward. According to the Chamber, the funds will support community-focused events and initiatives provided by the Sheriff’s Office throughout the year.
The donation is part of the Chamber’s annual Tinsel Trail, a holiday tradition featuring 45 decorated Christmas trees.
The Sheriff’s Office also has a direct connection to the event. Deputy Jonathan Mason has served on the Tinsel Trail Committee for several years and works with his workforce group each season to help install all 45 trees.
The Chamber said Mason and the group’s assistance is an important part of bringing the Tinsel Trail to life each year.
The Chamber encouraged community members to participate in this year’s Tinsel Trail by reserving a tree and helping continue the event’s tradition of giving back to the community.
Trees for the upcoming Tinsel Trail can be reserved through the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce.
