Toliver, Hall will be inducted into the Roanoke Valley Wrestling  Association Hall of Fame Monday

The Roanoke Valley Wrestling Association banquet is scheduled for Monday, April 29, and two former Lord Botetourt wrestlers will be inducted.

The Class of 2019 includes Matt Hall, Lawrence “Buzzy” Toliver, Ben Barnett and Greg Deacon. Hall and Tolliver are former LB wrestlers.

Hall is a former wrestler and coach at LB. He has also served as an assistant at Read Mountain Middle School, Cave Spring High School and Roanoke Catholic High.

Toliver wrestled at LB and was a former volunteer coach for the Cavaliers, also serving in that capacity at William Fleming High. Buzzy coached at North Cross, on the club level in Botetourt County and he’s also a long-time Roanoke Valley wrestling official.

Those two will join Deacon, who wrestled at Northside but also was an assistant coach at Lord Botetourt, and Barnett, who wrestled for William Fleming.

In addition, the Roanoke Valley Wrestling Association will name the high school Coach of the Year, Wrestler of the Year, Sonny Boyd Assistant Coach of the Year and present the Roy Stanley Achievement Award and memorial scholarships in the names of Ken Shelton and Stan Parker. James River coach Bobby Stewart is a nominee for the Coach of the Year Award and River’s Caleb Shipwash has been nominated for the Roy Stanley Award.
