
Virginia High School League spring sports are scheduled to open next Monday. Lord Botetourt and James River teams have been practicing and scrimmaging to prepare for their seasons.
On Monday, the first day of official VHSL action, Lord Botetourt will be home for both baseball and softball against Blacksburg. Both will start at 5:30 p.m. Also, the boys’ soccer team will debut under new coach Tim Wright with a 7 p.m. game against Heritage. The girls’ soccer team will be at Magna Vista for a 7 p.m. start.
James River has just one game Monday, a 5:30 p.m. boys’ soccer game at Eastern Montgomery. Things pick up on Tuesday, March 17, with a home softball game against Bassett at 5:30 p.m., a boys’ soccer game in Springwood with Nelson County at 7 p.m. and a girls’ soccer game at Nelson. The Knights’ first baseball game is Wednesday, March 18, at Riverheads.
Lord Botetourt has just two events next Tuesday. The LB girls will host Blacksburg in tennis at the Hollins University courts and the boys are at Magna Vista for tennis.
Next Wednesday, March 18, LB is at Hidden Valley for a 5 p.m. baseball game and the Cavaliers will host the Titans in softball at 5:30 p.m.
