The Vinton-based company hired to develop the branding and marketing campaign for the Upper James River Water Trail has been honored for its work.

The Botetourt County Office of Tourism hired Inprint, a Roanoke Valley branding and advertising agency headquartered in Vinton, to produce an integrated marketing campaign for the river trail, or blue way.

Inprint-UJR water trailInprint received a Platinum Award on April 26 when the Hermes Creative Awards announced the 2010 winners. The Hermes Creative Awards honor outstanding work of creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media.

There were over 3,600 entries from throughout the United States and several other countries in the Hermes Creative Awards 2010 Competition. Entries came from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

Winners were selected from 144 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts—advertising, publications, marketing/branding, integrated marketing, public relations, electronic media and pro bono. Only 18 percent of the entries won the Platinum Award, the organization’s top honor.

Inprint also received a Gold Award for another tourism-related project that involved Botetourt County.  That award was for the Crossroads to Settlement integrated marketing campaign done for the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Crossroads to Settlement highlights the importance of the Great Wagon Road, the Wilderness Road and the Carolina Road in the settlement of the frontier.

Inprint designed the “brand” for the Upper James River Water Trail and helped produce the trail website and a brochure. It did the same for the Crossroads to Settlement campaign.

Company officials said Inprint specializes in building powerful and memorable brands in the tourism, hospitality and foodservice industries. The firm works in all facets of print and interactive media including brand identity, advertising, publications, website design and more. Inprint was started in 1991 by David Harris and David Mikula and currently serves clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
