Virginia Moomaw Kinzie Visser, 90, of Troutville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Born on February 10, 1935, in Troutville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Graybill and Genevieve Layman Kinzie. She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius Seibren Visser; sisters, Dorothy L. Weeks and Martha K. Dillon; brother, Joseph G. Kinzie, Jr.; and son-in-law, Euro Zuleta.

A 1953 graduate of Troutville High School, she was an award-winning showman for the dairy cows raised on her family’s farm and a 4-H All-Star. She earned her degree from Radford College in 1957 and taught Home Economics at Cave Spring High School. In 1959, she married Neil, and the couple moved to Atlanta, where they started their family. Returning to Botetourt County in 1964, Virginia became a devoted member of the Troutville Church of the Brethren, singing in the choir and serving as church clerk for many years. She was also active in the Botetourt County Chorus, was a member of the NSDAR, and served her community as a poll worker for numerous elections.

She is survived by her daughters, Genevieve (Larry) Journell, Josephine Visser Zuleta, and Sonja (Joe) Delbuono; and her granddaughters, Alexandria Zuleta-Visser, and Sophia and Virginia Delbuono. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Sonya Carey and Dana Belle Kinzie, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and their extended families.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Carilion Home Health, the Hermitage Roanoke, Good Samaritan Palliative Care, and the compassionate team at Good Samaritan Hospice. Special appreciation goes to her caretakers: Kim, Sarah, Trish, Suzanne, and Catherine, for their kind and patient care.

The Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home is handling Mrs. Visser’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Troutville Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 156, Troutville, 24175. Condolences may be made at www.botetourtfh.com or 540-254-3000.
