Buchanan area volunteers turned out again Saturday to package 13,608 meals for the annual Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) event at the Buchanan Firehouse. About 52 people gathered for just under two hours of assembly-line work to package the meals that will go to Haiti. Organizer Cherie Austin said the smaller group packaged more meals in less time than last year. The goal was to package 10,000 meals for the program.
