Marvin Eugene (Gene) Williamson, 87, of Troutville, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was born in Roanoke on April 15, 1936 and lived most of his life in the Troutville area.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Martha Horne Williamson. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Aaron and Dorothy Williamson; sister, Frances Molter; brothers, Joseph Williamson and Kenneth Williamson.
Gene held several jobs in his lifetime, including Lone Star Cement, Blue Ridge Transfer, and Pilot Trucking before becoming co-owner of Progress Construction. Later he owned and operated Dome Excavating until his retirement.
After his wife retired, they enjoyed several years of traveling and spending time with family. Gene also enjoyed gathering with his buddies for coffee at the Hardees in Troutville until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He was baptized at and a member of Shepherd’s Chapel Ministry.
He is survived by his daughters; Pamela Williamson, Rita Wright, and Sheree Bishop and her husband Alan; grandchildren, Tony Wright and wife Summer, and Ashley Bishop; great-grandchildren, Autumn Wright and Winter Wright; sisters, Linda Haymaker, Peggy Haynes, and Doris Shukla; brothers, Richard Williamson and Aaron Williamson, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
A graveside service honoring Gene’s life was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 25 at Mill Creek Cemetery, Fincastle. The family received friends 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville, before the graveside service.
