The Botetourt Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) hosted 26 ladies at the chapter’s eighth Women In The Outdoors (WITO) Event Saturday, July 27. The event offered the participants the chance to shoot a variety of firearms under the guidance of certified instructors. They shot shotguns, .22 rifles, .22 pistols, archery and modern .223 rifles, and enjoyed lunch at Blue Ridge Vineyards near Eagle Rock. The vineyard has supported the WITO Event each year by allowing use of the property and its pavilion. Pictured are participants, and chapter and instructor volunteers. The Longbeards will hold their annual fundraising banquet/gun bash Thursday, September 19 at The Barn at Back Creek, Buchanan. Tickets for the banquet will be available in August. Proceeds are used to provide frozen turkeys to five Botetourt food pantries at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
