WRIGHT, E. Thomas

On April 26, 2019, E. Thomas “Tommy” Wright, 75, of Buchanan, left his earthly, broken body and walked through the gates of Heaven, perfect. He was met by his parents, Elga Thomas Wright and Elizabeth Markham Wright. He was also predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Betty Wright Wilson and Gary Wilson; niece and nephew, Kamala Wilson and Kerry Wilson.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 43 years, Jane Hartley Wright; his son, whom he loved unconditionally, Christopher David Wright; his “near perfect” grandchildren, Hannah Marie Wright and Coleton Hartley Wright of Buchanan; and former daughter-in-law and best nurse, Barbara J. Wright of Daleville. He is also survived by his niece, Kyrra Wilson of Washington, niece, Karen Faith Conner and Eric Hal, and nephew, Kevin Michael and Katie Rose Conner of Buchanan.

Tommy was skilled and worked hard in his life, whether it was on the family farm at Solitude, in the East End Shops at a forging machine for Norfolk Southern Railway or building modular homes for E&H Construction. He was a long time member of Virginia Presbyterian Church and helped work on many projects at the church, remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms and building a new fellowship hall. How do you describe a life well-lived in a few short words? He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, hunting prairie dogs out west, mowing the yard and traveling in the motorhome or 5th wheel.

Special thanks for loving care go to his family, the nurses and staff on 1 South at Friendship Health and Rehab, Kindred Home Health and Good Samaritan Hospice.

Funeral services were be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, at Virginia Presbyterian Church, 918 Pico Road, Buchanan with Pastor Dave Mucha officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation was 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Virginia Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 328, Buchanan, 24066. Online condolences may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com or 254-3000.
