Xfinity high-speed internet service is now available to more than 750 homes and businesses in Buchanan following the completion of a Comcast network expansion project.
The project brings multi-gigabit, symmetrical internet service to the town, giving residents and businesses another option for high-speed connectivity.
As a new connectivity provider in Buchanan, Xfinity will offer internet, mobile, entertainment and smart-home services. Residents can sign up for service through Xfinity, while businesses can access services through Comcast Business.
“We’re excited to welcome Comcast to Buchanan and appreciate this investment in our community,” Buchanan Town Manager Tim Mack said. “Having another provider gives our residents and businesses more choices for high-speed internet, mobile services and the reliable connectivity that is increasingly important for everyday life.”
The Buchanan project is part of Comcast’s broader investment in Virginia. The company is also expanding or completing network projects in Bedford, Campbell County, Caroline County, Forest and Radford.
“We’re proud to deepen our investment in Botetourt County by connecting more than 750 homes and businesses in Buchanan to our intelligent and reliable network,” said Ray Roundtree, senior vice president of Comcast’s Beltway Region.
Roundtree said the new service will help residents and businesses with activities including remote work, telehealth, streaming and gaming.
Comcast said new customers may also be eligible for promotions including a five-year price guarantee and one free line of Xfinity Mobile for a year with a qualifying internet plan.
Xfinity’s residential services include internet, mobile, television, voice and home security.
