Big sale at Solomon’s Mission
Solomon’s Mission will hold a sale starting August 6. Fill a large bag for $1 of household items, pictures, and linens. Clothing will be buy one bag, get one free; shoes are buy one pair, get one free; and furniture is 50% off.
The store will be closed on August 10, and is not accepting donations until August 20.
It is not accepting donations in order to make the area safer with incoming donations and to enlarge the Thrift Store. The store remains open during the remake; if the store needs to close at any point during the remake, updates will be posted on Solomon’s Facebook page.
Pleasant Hill distributing food Saturday
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will hold its monthly Food Box Ministry distribution on Saturday, August 8. If you or someone you know is in need of food, stop by one of the two pick-up locations from 9-10:30 a.m.:

Buchanan Baptist Homecoming Celebration
Everyone is invited to Homecoming on August 9 at Buchanan Baptist Church. The church is celebrating its 190th year. Morning worship begins at 11 a.m. and will feature a special message by Caleb Bittler.
A potluck lunch will be served immediately following the worship service. A time of special music and fellowship will follow lunch. There will also be plenty of fun for children with activities on the lawn, plus treats from the Smooshed Ice Cream Truck and the Delcio Icee Truck. Everyone is welcome
Eagle Rock Clothes Closet dates
The Eagle Rock Community Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock United Methodist Church is open Wednesday, August 5, from 5-6:30 p.m., and Saturday, August 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. It offers men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and shoes along with toys and household items. Bags will be provided and patrons are asked to honor the bag limit posted.
Fincastle Clothes Closet August dates
Fincastle United Methodist’s Clothes Closet will be open on Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; Tuesday, August 18, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Saturday, August 29, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Family Life Center at 137 S. Church Street. Donations of gently worn, clean clothing and shoes also will be accepted. Call the church office at 540-473-3001 to arrange to bring donations during office hours, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday.
