Kiwanis scholarships awarded to county students
The Botetourt Kiwanis Club has awarded this year’s two $1,500 John Blake and Ray Otey Scholarships to Lord Botetourt High seniors Anna Frittman and Rylee White.
The Kiwanis $1,500 scholarship for a Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) graduating senior was awarded to Max Tyler Vaughn, a BTEC student and a graduate at Lord Botetourt High School.
The recipient of this year’s $1,000 James R. Bushong scholarship for a graduating BTEC senior was awarded to Aiden Carlos Jones.
The Botetourt Kiwanis awarded a $1,500 John Blake and Ray Otey Scholarship to Isabella Erber. Isabella, an officer in the James River Key Club, plans to attend either William & Mary or Christopher Newport this Fall.
Troutville Baptist awards Nell Landers Scholarships
Troutville Baptist Church recognized two Lord Botetourt High School 2022 graduates during the morning service on Sunday, June 5, awarding both a Nell Landers Scholarship.
The scholarship honors the memory of Nell Landers, a lifelong member of Troutville Baptist, serving in many capacities. She also taught at Troutville Elementary for many years. Education for young people was a major goal for her.
The scholarship recipients were Hannah Davis and Faith Overbay.
Davis is the daughter of Eddie and Tracy Davis of Troutville. She has been accepted to Radford University-Carilion to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing.
Overbay is the daughter of Jason and Debra Overbay of Troutville. She has been accepted to Hollins University in an inaugural program, HOPE Scholars, for a Master’s Degree in Education.
